Ryomaden 龍馬伝

Finally finished the last episode of “Ryomaden” and the ending does seem odd, or should I say a bit unfinished perhaps?

To me, Sakamoto Ryoma’s story doesn’t end and shouldn’t end with his assassination… his death alone had a huge impact on the subsequent events so why not contrast what happened afterwards vs what he envisioned for Japan as a country?

I think he did live to his fullest, even though it’s regretfully short.

Still one of the best NHK Taiga dramas in recent years… at least it seems better than the one this year (江〜姫たちの戦国〜).

Déjà vu

What a hectic day at LFC!

I simply do not get it. Why would Torres wish to join Chelsea, a club clearly in decline (strings of losses with a bunch of overpaid ageing players)?  There is no way they can win the Premiership or the Champions League this season.

This reminds me of Owen wanting to play in Champions League and forcing a transfer to Real Madrid only for Liverpool to win the CL in Istanbul the year after!!

Fernando, be careful of what you wish for… I don’t think you will win anything in the next 5 years, if you stay in London that long. We’ll see if Carroll + Suarez is a good replacement combo.

Sack him please!!

I couldn’t believe it… we lost to the last-placed Wolves. It was the worst Liverpool performance I have ever witnessed.

On top of that, he blamed the supporters for the poor performance (too late to backtrack that today, Roy)!

We have another should-win match against Bolton next. Should win… but we may draw… we may even lose.

At this point, I don’t really fucking care anymore… my biggest wish for 2011 is:

Mr John Henry, sack him please!!

Château Lafite Rothschild

This is a great piece from WSJ on Lafite… when asked about rocketing prices of his wine, the director of Domaines Barons de Rothschild gave this response:

“This is very difficult for me,” he says. “I am not a commercial director. I am in charge of the technical management of the estate, in charge of the quality and production of the wine. My objective is to produce something of top quality. In China, the very rich want to find the top of the quality in each product they want to buy and in Bordeaux, they found Lafite.” And with that he smiles; a broad, slightly unsure grin.

The grin implies: You mainland Chinese will never be able to appreciate Château Lafite Rothschild in a million years.

And I have to concur hahahaha

Merry Christmas!

Who can deliver the best Christmas speech year after year?  The Queen Elizabeth II of course!

Hopefully a few more dictatorships will get toppled in 2011… Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

WSJ

One must not be considered a famous person until he or she gets a “dot-drawing” from Wall Street Journal.

Never in a million years I would’ve imagined the Lee triplets getting their own so soon haha

Even worse than Putin…

December 19, 2010 Leave a comment

I had to throw up my arms, just like Sir Donald did in the MV below, and said, “WTF…”

I think either this rapper is stupid, or he is another mole… suspicious indeed, as most of his lyrics can be revised so easily into anti-government stuff.

Harper vs Putin

First, it was Prime Minister Harper singing at the Conservatives Christmas party:

Then Putin wants to join the fun as well (my first reaction was WTF):

Putin not even close in winning the singing contest!!

Fuck buddies and more…

The headline news from Hong Kong for the past two days wasn’t the China-related materials from Wikileaks but a court case about a former female athlete in her 20s blackmailing a 70-year-old guy!

No need to get into the details:  just wondering if this court case is being tried in English… how would they translate the sworn statements?  It can make a huge difference…

Statement #1: 朋友關係都可以發生關係 – I forgot from which US TV series, but this type of friendship can be categorized as “fuck buddies”?

Statement #2: 我唔係雞 – not a prostitute (but yet she took money)

Statement #3: 寫信話有我哋第一次性交片段 – her words should be translated as “video clip of the first sexual intercourse” but that would totally weaken her whole defense… if she claims she has feelings for him, the proper term should be “video clip of the first time making love”?

This young lady will spend some time in jail… what a pity.

“Never found so much space after that in my life”

This is probably the funniest soccer news I’ve heard for a long time… 20 years later, Gary Lineker announced he did a poo on the pitch during a World Cup game against Ireland at Italia ’90:

“Unless you know, you wouldn’t know, I tried to tackle someone, stretched and relaxed myself and… ”

He then tried to wipe his shit on the pitch while ‘washing’ his hands on the grass.

“I was very fortunate that it rained that night,” and afterwards, “never found so much space after that in my life”

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha
